Aion 2 Launch Checklist: Pre-loads, PC Specs & Founder’s Packs

The wait is almost over. Aion 2 officially launches globally on October 5, 2026, as a free-to-play PC title on Steam and NC’s PURPLE launcher. But if you want to claim your name, secure your guild, and get ahead of the economy, the Founder’s Pack Early Access begins in just a few days on September 30.

Whether you are jumping in for Early Access or waiting for the free global launch, here is everything you must do right now to prepare your PC and your account.

The Most Important Date: Pre-Download

You do not want to be stuck downloading the game while your friends are already leveling. The Early Access pre-download officially begins on Monday, September 28 at 6:00 AM PDT (9:00 AM EDT / 15:00 CEST).

If you participated in the Launch Scale Test earlier this month, you have a critical extra step to take before downloading the retail client.

1.Uninstall the Launch Scale Test App: Skipping this will cause conflicts.

The retail version of Aion 2 is an entirely separate client from the playtest. Go into your Steam Library, find the “AION 2 Playtest App,” and uninstall it completely.

2.Secure your Founder’s Pack: Required for Sept 28 Pre-load.

Pre-downloading on September 28 is exclusive to Founder’s Pack owners. Purchase your pack on the specific platform you intend to play on (Steam or PURPLE). Cross-buy between launchers is not supported.

3.Install the Retail Client:

At 6:00 AM PDT on Sept 28, navigate to the main Aion 2 store page on Steam or PURPLE, hit “Install,” and let the client patch. The “Play” button will remain locked until servers open on Sept 30.

PC System Requirements & Storage

Aion 2 is built on Unreal Engine 5, meaning it is gorgeous, but it demands modern hardware. Clear out your hard drive now.

• Storage Requirement: You need 100 GB of available space.
• Drive Type: An NVMe or SATA SSD is highly recommended. Installing an Unreal Engine 5 MMO on a mechanical hard drive (HDD) will result in agonizing load times and stuttering during large-scale PvP.
• Drivers: Update your Nvidia or AMD graphics drivers this weekend before the servers get hammered.

Which Founder’s Pack Should You Buy?

If you are on the fence about dropping money on a game that goes free-to-play on October 5, here is the blunt truth: You are paying for the 5-day head start.

Every single tier gives you the exact same September 30 Early Access window and a 30-day Membership. The only difference is how many cosmetics you want.
