Fortnite Girl Talk: What I’m Loving (and Hating) About the Current Update 💅🎮

Okay besties, it’s time for some Fortnite girl talk because I’ve been playing a lot lately and I definitely have some thoughts about the current state of the game.

Let’s start with what I’m loving.

The Sprite system is easily one of my favorite additions this season. They’re cute, they’re useful, and they actually add something new to gameplay without feeling overpowered. It’s one of those features that makes Fortnite feel fresh again while still keeping the game balanced.

Another change I’m surprisingly enjoying is spawning in with a pistol and a mini shield. Let’s be real—there’s nothing worse than landing, opening three chests, and still not finding a weapon while someone else is already fully loaded. Starting everyone with a basic loadout makes those early-game fights feel a lot fairer.

And can we talk about free-fall? At first I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about it, but honestly, I love it. It adds a whole new layer of strategy to landing and rotating. Being able to dive faster and get where you need to go can be a huge advantage. Of course, if you don’t time it right, it can be absolutely deadly. I’ve definitely had a few moments where I free-falled a little too confidently and instantly regretted my decisions. But overall, I think it’s one of the most exciting gameplay changes we’ve gotten in a while.

Now let’s get to the weapons.

My favorite gun in Battle Royale right now is the Chaos Exploder Rifle. Every time I find one, I know I’m keeping it. It hits hard, feels rewarding to use, and is easily one of the most fun weapons in the current loot pool.

Coming in second is John Wick’s Pistol. That thing is an absolute laser beam. If you’ve got decent aim, you can put in serious work with it. Honestly, I trust that pistol more than some of the assault rifles in the game right now.

Unfortunately, that’s where my excitement for the weapons kind of ends. Outside of those two standouts, I’m really not loving the current loot pool. A lot of the guns just don’t feel as satisfying or memorable as weapons we’ve had in previous seasons.

Then there’s Blitz mode.

Listen, I love a good Fortnite collaboration as much as anyone else, but I am officially ready for the Star Wars weapons to take a break. The crossover was fun, but right now it feels like every other fight revolves around Star Wars gear instead of traditional Fortnite gunplay. I miss the days when winning a fight came down to your aim, movement, and loadout rather than who found the most powerful crossover item first.

And finally, we need to talk about what might be my biggest complaint of the season.

I don’t know if it’s a glitch or if Epic intended for this to happen, but if one person in your squad readies up while someone else isn’t ready, the game now seems to automatically leave the unready player behind. As someone who plays with friends, this is incredibly annoying. Sometimes people are changing skins, checking quests, grabbing snacks, or simply aren’t paying attention for a second. Nobody wants to realize they’re suddenly watching their friends play because they got auto-left in the lobby.

Overall, I’m still having a lot of fun this season. The Sprite system is a win, free-fall makes matches more exciting, and starting with a pistol and mini shield is one of the smartest quality-of-life changes Epic has made in a while. But if Epic could improve the weapon pool, tone down the Star Wars dominance in Blitz, and fix the squad ready-up issue, I’d be a very happy Fortnite girlie.
